What Are The Essentials Of Scripture?
The Deity of Christ
-Jesus said, "I and the Father are One." Did he mean
one in purpose or is Jesus literally claiming to be God? And if he is,
are there legitimate reasons to accept this claim?
Christians and Belief
in Jesus Christ-The Bible tells us that everyone who believes
in Jesus is a Christian. But what does belief in Jesus really mean?
The Incarnation-The
term incarnation is of Latin origin, and it means "becoming in flesh."
While the word incarnation is not contained within Scripture, the doctrine
of the Incarnation certainly does convey scriptural truth.
The Kenosis of Christ
-It's popular today to say that Jesus in the Incarnation
was fully man, but certainly not fully God. In discussing the doctrine
of the Incarnation (God the Son in human flesh), Philippians 2:7 says
that Jesus "emptied Himself."
The Evidence for Christ's
Resurrection-As Paul noted in 1 Corinthians 15:14, if Christ
did not rise from the dead then our preaching and our faith are useless.
We must therefore be prepared to demonstrate that Christ's resurrection
was an event that occurred in space and time — that it was in
fact historical, and not mythological (cf. 2 Pet. 1:16).
I
Believe In The Resurrection of the Flesh -Down through the
centuries orthodox Christians have always confessed with the Apostles'
Creed: "I believe...in the resurrection of the flesh." This affirmation
of faith in the believer's resurrection is grounded in faith in Christ's
resurrection.
About TheTrinity-Is
The Trinity Biblical?
The Trinity is a basic doctrine of orthodox Christianity. Yet
the word "Trinity" is not found anywhere in the Bible. Is the doctrine
of the Trinity really biblical?
The Essentials of Christianity?
The authority of Scripture-Affirm the existence of a triune God-Jesus
Christ - Who is fully God and fully man.
What I Believe-It
is my commitment to faithfully uphold the revealed truths of Holy Scripture.
I therefore commit myself to the following summary statement of the
vital teachings of Scripture and the Christian faith.
About God the Father?
The Attributes of God Life Magazine recently asked the provocative
question: "WHO IS GOD?" Many answers have been given throughout the
ages to reply to this question — but the real answer comes from
the Bible.
The Biblical Basis of the
Doctrine of the Trinity-The Bible teaches that "the faith"
(which would include the nature of the object of faith, namely God)
was "delivered once for all to the saints" (Jude 3). Therefore any religious
movement that claims to have restored the true doctrine of God through
any kind of revelation is unbiblical.
Loving
The Trinity-The Trinity should be the object of our love,
for the doctrine expresses the very heart and soul of Scripture’s
message of redemption. If we wish to have a solid foundation for our
faith, we need to learn why this doctrine is central and what it really
expresses. We must also be able to recognize denials of the Trinity,
whether blatant or subtle, and we must call Christian leaders to account
when they allow this central truth of the faith to be undermined and
relegated to “debatable” status.
